Azeitão/Évora/Estremoz
Departure to the village of Azeitão where noble families have settled since the fifteenth century, the evidence of those times are the beautiful farms, palaces and fountains that adorn the village.
The route continues to Evora, situated in Alentejo. The city was inhabited in Roman times, the temple of Diana is a landmark and a trace of that period, the Bones Chapel and the Church of San Francisco are the most famous monuments in Evora, another places to visit is the Praça do Giraldo, the passage through the walls of Évora and the Convent Lóios where is located the Pousada dos Loios.
Leaving Évora we find the Cromlech Almendres where you can see the menhirs dating from pre-history (8000 BC). Passageway for Estremoz known for medieval buildings built of white marble, visit the castle where you can almost see the whole city, is also known for producing wine, olive oil and the manufacture of handicrafts. Return to Lisbon. |
